I find this plugin SUPERB! yet I noticed that the Alt & Title Text / Description in Portuguese doesn’t work no matter what I try. Any characters containing accentuated character are appear as empty space, for instance ç ç
Açai becomes A ai etc (space)
These special chars also appear in French, Spanish etc. Looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks

This is becouse your site use a lot of memory on server or you have little PHP memory limit (edit php.ini or ask your hoster increase PHP memory limit). You can reduce server memory usage by disabling unused plugins.
The esiest way is upload smaller size of photos :)
I used Photo Shop to make my photo’s web ready, reducing size. Works great now. Thanks for your fast support, and a great plug.
Cool plugin. But when I try to upload 3 mb photos it’s could be done. After uploading, there’s no photos in my gallery. If there’re 100 – 500 KB photos, everything fine

Just created my first Wordpress web site and installed this Flash Album Gallery plugin. Worked beautifully. NO problems. Looks great. I love it. I did make sure I downsized my digital images in Photoshop to approx. 800 px x 600 px 72 dpi before uploading. That way they load faster and it saves on server space while still being large enough to view full-screen. Thanks for creating such an elegant plug-in!

I’m having no thumb nail images. have found out that my full size images are being uploaded ok.
thumb directory is totally blank – Thumbnail images on the slideshow are showing ERROR in each of them. Is this a memory issue or is this something else ?

Hi, see if you could help me out. I created a gallery, click on the button “Add Flash Album Gallery”, select the gallery, but then nothing happens. The dialog box remains the same and the gallery is not added. If I write the name of the album in the html code, nothing happens either. In the preview of the page there´s a message: IDs not found. What should I do?

Any word on the no-thumb issue. I have it running on a dedicated server with more than enough hardware and the settings in the PHP.ini allow for huge video uploads so this is not the issue. I’ve tried images as small as 100×100 and still no thumb. I checked the folders and no thumb is created at all. Any ideas?
In Manage Galleries, it states that in order to create a new gallery, you should do the following:
Create a new , empty gallery below the folder wp-content/flagallery/
I’m a bit confused about this. Do you mean on the ftp server? There the folder below wp-content is flash-album-gallery and not flagallery. I wasn’t sure whether I was to create one called flagallery. So I did, meaning I had one called wp-content/flash-album-gallery/digitalart, and one called wp-content/flagallery/digital art. I uploaded images into both of the folders named digitalart on the ftp server and then pressed scan folders in Manage Gallery, but no images were detected. Can you help me out?
It’s ok, I’m an idiot. I’ve been staring at it for hours and just noticed I created the gallery in “wp-content/plugins/flagallery”. Problem solved!
It’s just explanation of what makes the input field “New Gallery”. You don’t need create folder manualy. When you create your first gallery the folder will appear automaticaly
Ah I see. I realised that you could just input “New Gallery” into the field and upload from the site, but if you upload your images via the ftp server, you have to create the folder separately and put it into “wp-content/flagallery/newgallery”. Once I did that I was able to Scan Folder for new content within WordPress.

I have very tiny images, which I sized down in Photoshop via “Save for Web and Devices” and I am having a lot of trouble making thumbnails for my images. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn’t. Most of the time it won’t allow me to crop it for the thumbnail, a hand will apear over the image, not a cropping tool, and that is IF the image even appears after I click the “edit thumbnail” option. Also, images that are situated horizontally instead of vertically crop in a funky way, where the image becomes completely distorted. Any help would be greatly appreciated, please, because I have searched and plugged in over 10 different galleries in the past two weeks and they all have major complications. My php limit should not be a problem either, I just didnt want to state the obvious. Thanks. Alex
Maybe you use any other plugins for displaing galleries? Try disable them and then upoad images with FlAGallery

BY FAR the best photo gallery plugin for WordPress. It really delivers and the skins are great! My installation doesn’t work with the flash uploader, but that’s a small issue considering how beautifully everything else works.

Tried to use your example code for placing the Gallery outside of a post:

I cannot get the gallery to show up. My theme has a sidebar.php file and I am trying to add it to this file so that t show above the actual sidebar. I have placed other items in the file and the show up, maybe the context is wrong and I need to add additioanl code?
This is php function, so you need wrap it with php tags like show below:

Doh! Of course I had to be that idiot who forgets the php tags.
But now I get the following in place of where the Gallery would show.

Disregard. It looks like the files i uploaded were way to big and thumbnails were not created. It was having a hard time opening the files. new images of a better web size uploaded and it works perfect. Awesome plugin!!!

Any way to make the images fullsize w/in the post, & without going fullscreen? I’m entering custom sizes and the plugin doesnt seem to reflect the changes. Should I just rebuild it from the source images at that point?

THANK YOU! I have spent all day trying to get a gallery set up for a client. I am a designer not a coder and most of them did not work for me. I think yours was about the 12th one I tried. I was so doubtful it would work but to my surprise I installed it, fiddled with it a few minutes and it just worked! Thank you so much!

i diceded the upgrade my gallery on my site after setting up half a dozen WP sites for others i thought i would use it myself as it seems realy easy to play with how ever i have a problem with the new gallery or flashgallery :P

great plugin.. I really enjoy it! One question.. i was wondering if there were a way to get the transition between photos to be faster? It’s quite slow & hurts the flow of the slideshow. I’d much rather just fade between images than the fade out, resize, fade in.
Is that possible?

Hi there – everything was working fine, and I didn’t change anything. Today when I view the album using Firefox, the thumbnails all say “error” and the main photo says “Couldn’t load the media file. Error #2124″
It still works in IE…

Hey – me again. I solved the problem with the 2124 error – it wasn’t the plugin. My server had “hotlink protection” get turned on overnight, and no blank referrer was created, so it was preventing firefox from reading the directory.
Back with an update of the Main XML error from my earlier message. I deleted the most recent gallery and it fixed the issue. I re-uploaded the photos and they worked OK. I believe it is an issue with text characters in the descriptions of the images. I breaks when I type a word like K’ekchi’. In my case, it’s a useful word to use. I already knew it wouldn’t take a word like “Yanomamö”. Oh well. Seems to work OK now if I avoid odd punctuation or characters.
What I would like to do now is sort my galleries, but I can’t figure out how to change their order or ID assignment. Fortunately, my creation order makes sense, but I’d like to be able to sort them differently without entirely re-doing every gallery. Advice?
BTW- I do really like the plug-in!

You can order galleries (categories) in shortcode:
[flagallery gid=1,2,3,4 name="My Album"] is not the same as [flagallery gid=4,2,3,1 name="My Album"]
In the first shortcode default first gallery appear #1, but in second shortcode – #4

However like TKhaz and Pete above, I have also found that I get the ‘Couldn’t load the Main XML file. Error #1090′ whenever I include any punctuation such as ‘ in the image title. Including these characters in the description is however not a problem. Is there an easy fix for this which I might be able to try?

First question is asked becouse of language difference, second I ask becouse I dont wanna offer to visitors something incorporated into gallery thats leading them to think it has something to do with gallery they are viewing – I would like, instead, put credits in a more discrete manner.

I just wish the photo title was viewable without having to click on the “I” button. I think that’s an extra step that a lot people are not going to want to do.

maybe you haven’t write permissions on ‘wp-content/flagallery/…/thumbs’ folder or it’s problem with your hosting. (GD library disabled)
Did you look at FlAGallery Overview page on both sites. Maybe there are some difference you didn’t note
Moving to a new hosting solution and after installing the plugin and adding the php to my sidebar.php like before I get the following error:
Couldn’t load the media file.Error #2035
File sizes are identical, names are identical. It even happens when I try to add to post.
Must have been something to do with dns if not i can’t explain it, but once the A record was changed it started working.

I thought for some strange reason that it may be due to adding a new gallery, so I decided to try to add images to existing galleries, but instead I just get the message saying that 0 pictures were successfully added.
Can you help with this one? I’m stumped. Thanks
I solved the problem.
Tried first with: [album gid=GALLERY_IDs name="ALBUM_NAME"] – not working.
Then I found out, I had to add the measures as well like this code:
[flagallery gid=1 name="album name" w=655 h=400]
Now this code is working. I just inserted this code in a post or page. The flash insert function, I still cannot solve this problem.
Anyway, I’m happy now and thanks for this excellent plugin.

This plugin is too memory hungry. On one server, I have 32 MB max available and it throws memory errors all over the place. Can you cut down the memory processes please??

I try to insert FlAG gallery to a page, but nothing happens. I am using the Button ‘Add Flash Album Gallery’ on the page editor. I select the gallery from the list and press the Button ‘INSERT’, but nothing happens. What am I doing wrong??

I am still having the same problems and I haven’t had a reply to this. I tried adding images again to a new gallery, and I get an error #2038, along with the message saying that the folder contains no pictures, and again when loading into an existing gallery, it says no images were added.
If I can’t fix this then I’ll have to remove the plugin. A shame really, as I love this feature. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

try upload images via ftp and than click “scan folder for new images”, but if folder with only read attribute, then thumbnails will not created
No the folders definitely have write permissions. I’ve checked this. However, I uploaded my images through the ftp server and it seems to work fine, and I’m also able to upload via the plugin now, which I haven’t been able to do for several weeks now. I don’t know what the problem was but it seems to be working fine now. Thanks.

Hi. Great app, but I have had the same problem as Heather Moore above. For me the solution was renaming the pictures omitting å,ä,ö which are common swedish letters. Strange… The same problem occurs when I add info to the pictures. When displaying the text (Very neat clicking “i” when extra info is available!) the letters above are omitted. So please give us an update which can handle the swedish alphabet – 28letters including å,ä,ö. (“a” with circle above, “a” with two dots, “o” with two dots.
there are 2 skins with international letters support: “Midnight International Skin” and “WP PhotoGallery PRO 1.0″. Try it.
I am setting up a wordpress blog for a friend who wanted a gallery on her site. After downloading and activating 4 others I could figure out how to navigate, I found yours. I was soooo easy to install and set up. Thank you for your contribution.
I like this plug-in, but I’ve got a problem and a question.
Problem: When I upload the individual images have a 644 permission and thumbs are not created. If I change permission to 755 before actually posting the thumbs are created. How can I get them created with the 755 permission? The folder I’m uploading to has a 755 permission.
Question: You’ve stated that I should be able to re-create the thumbs, but I can’t find an option to do that in manage galleries. Where is it exactly or how do I re-create the thumbs.

Even more confusing! I added a couple more images and didn’t change their permission. Created a thumb of one but not the other. Both images were about 117kb.
It’s can be memory limit issue. You got any errors? 755 permission need only for folders, not for images.
To re-create the thumbs go to Gallery overview -> check images you want to edit -> choose from bulk actions “Create New Thumbnails” -> cllick OK.
To create custom thumb – click “Edit thumb” under Filename/Date column in Gallery overview
How to I create categories?
If you have 2 or more galleries created, then in the shortcode you can include it to show as categories.
If you use FlAGallery button to insert shortcode, hold Ctrl button and choose few galleries from the list in popup you want to include as categories.
Or just edit shortcode in your post like: [flagallery gid=1,3,2,4 name="Gallery" w=100% h=600]

that was a bug in flash skin with quotes in image description. Download skin that you use again and reinstall it (delete old one via ftp, first)
What features does the 20$ skin offer that the 5$ doesn’t have?
1. Buttons “Slide Show” and “Full Screen” instead “SL” and “FS”.
2. If you show only one gallery flash doesn’t show the button ‘All Categories’.
3. Flash support any language in image description.
4. Tool tip for “i” button when mouse over.
5. You can order change text of buttons in flash for free. (for example translate button’s text to another language)

But I have a problem viewing it on my site. When used on the localhost, it worked very fine, now the site has been uploaded and the page is given error, even after correcting the file path.

hey, i love the plugin and thought everything was working fine, but a few people have got back to me saying that when they click onto my site they get the following error message – Error! Please, check shortcode for this album…Example: [flagallery gid=1 name="Album_name"]

SHORTCODE from GRAND FlAGallery v0.29 was changed. If you used previous version GRAND FlAGallery, replace all [album ...] shortcodes in posts with [flagallery ...], please! Watch video tutorial

Not sure this is the right answer, but it sounds like this could be a cache problem in IE. Esp. since you just made changes. Try clearing the cache and reloading pages.

hi again! i went through the tutorial. i reinstalled it and re-did a gallery on http://www.irelandimages.ie and its working fine. but for some reason, although i did the same for my http://www.nehphotography.com site and reinstalled and redid all galleries, its still working on internet explorer. any ideas?!! cheers. neal

Problem with Error #1088 fixed, but only for skins you have now. For other skins (downloaded from PhotoGalleryCreator.com) replace “color.php” file with this one via ftp

basically I have problems with the skins: if I access the skins options apge, I get a blank page and my error log file says:

I LOVE this plugin. I’ve been looking forever for a photo gallery plugin, and all of them would break when I used them. Not one would even handle uploading images properly let alone anything else.

hey, I’ve got a feature proposal: what about protecting the source images? i.e. automatically place a .htaccess inside the gallery folders that disallows direct calls to the images so nobody clever can try and manually “guess” the images location?

9 times out of 10, this is a simple htaccess problem and flash file can’t get access to your xml.php file (500 Internal Server Error). All you have to do is correct your .htaccess file and you should be able to see gallery

but many friends don’t know there is some more album in the categories.
why don’t display all the album in a page or develop a space in the page to see the other album ~~
you can insert few galleries (shortcodes) in one post and display all albums in separate flashes
I think it’s not a good method for one who has many albums and the flash player will download many pictures simultaneitiely~~

your host is adding some code to the end of the colors.php file used by flash and this is get error:

I changed the site-url from without www. to with and now the gallery is broken aka the thumbs and images don’t load anymore…. there are no options regarding this inside its options. trying to fix it with phpmyadmin. after editing my urls with phpmyadmin now the browser only displays: The Flash Player and a browser with Javascript support are needed..
oh, and after manually inserting the www into the options DB all settings are gone :-(
resetting the settings fixed it :-)

plugin is free and there are few free flash skins you can find in it and on PhotoGalleryCreator.com. You can use commercial skins for free too, but only as a demo with no limitations and link to buy it in the corner.
When you say only as a demo, does that mean that it will only work on my computer? Does that mean that it will show with the words “demo” on the screen on the photos? Still do not know what demo means.

You can see how demo version of the skin looks like on the PhotoGalleryCreator.com or download for free and see how it looks on your site, play around with the settings, change colors, etc. before you buy a paid version of the skin

For some reason no images come up. I can see the page load up but there is no images appear. The images are under 200kb and are 800×600.
Any suggestions on what is causing this?

how can I change the order in which Galleries are displayed? I’d like to show the latest gallery that I added first.
I foudn the sorting options for the thumbnails but there is no option to sort the galleries/albums :-(
