- The flash didn’t work. I only see the message “The Flash Player and a browser with Javascript needed..”, but everything is installed and activated.
- Make sure you have the following in your template. (It’s in the original WP header.php template, but if you’re creating your own, you may have forgotten to include it):
<?php wp_head(); ?>
That line would go in between your <HEAD> </HEAD> tags
- When I try to activate the plugin I get the message : “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
- This problem could happened if you have a low memory_limit in your php environment and a lot of plugins installed. For a simple test deactivate all other plugins and try then to activate GRAND Flash Album Gallery again. Please check also if you have a minimum memory_limit of 16Mbyte (as much as possible).
- I get the message “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of xxx bytes exhausted” or get the “Error: Exceed Memory limit.”. What does this means ?
- This problem could happened if you have a low memory_limit in your php environment or you have a very large image (resolution, not size). The memory limit sets the maximum amount of memory in bytes that a script is allowed to allocate. You can either lower the resolution of your images or increase the PHP Memory limit (via ini_set, php.ini or htaccess). If you didn’t know how to do that, please contact your web hoster.
- I get the error message: “Couldn’t load the Color XML file.Error #1088″
- Make sure that all colors set properly on Skins page -> Skin options tab. Colors should be in HEX-format (without ‘#’ symbol from v0.40).
- I get the error message: “Couldn’t load the Main XML file.Error #1090″
- Check image names and titles if there are some special characters or quotes delete image or rename it.
- When I open the archive/category page of my site… it will show the post but with this message :

But if I open the post, it will shows the gallery perfectly - It’s because your theme use some function different from
<?php the_content('Read more'); ?>
to display post excerpt in
index.phporarchive.phporcategory.php. If you insert “more” (page breack) tag in post before shortcode, then flash will be only on individual page. - How to create a categories in flash album? I only have one category, which is the name of the gallery.
- You can do it easily with FlAGallery button on editor panel, when you edit post. In trhe popup window hold down ‘Ctrl’ button and choose galleries left mouse button. Or just write gallery IDs separated by comma in “gid” attribute:
[flagallery gid=7,3,5,2 name="My Galleries"]
To display ALL galleries as categories:
[flagallery gid=all name="My Galleries"]
- How can I set it to auto slideshow when open the page?
- Download and activate skin with auto slideshow.
- The gallery keeps loading without ever showing the images
- You’ve probably changed site url, so flash think that images are on other domain. Just click Reset settings on Overview page. That will solve the problem.
- ERROR: Couldn’t load the media file.Error #2036
- Make sure that you have equal number of images in Manage Gallery and in ftp folder. Check if you have broken images.
- How do I set a specific category as the first one that is displayed?
- if you have three galleries and shortcode like:
[flagallery gid=3,1,2 name="Gallery"]
first gallery will be with ID=3, then ID=1, and then ID=2
if you have:[flagallery gid=all name="Gallery" orderby=title order=ASC exclude=1]
it will display all galleries except ID=1 sorted by title of gallery.
- [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2032"]
- Probably you use some plugin that extend standard WordPress TinyMCE Editor. And it replace ( ” ) symbol in shortcode to ( “ ). Try remove all quotes from shortcode (album name without quotes shouldn’t consist spaces).

Something wrong with your shortcode. Replace ( “ ) symbol to ( " ) or remove quotes from shortcode.
Tried editing and even removing quotes from shortcode (on a single word gallery name).
No luck!

Yes, the site is working on 0.39pl3.
But there’s something weird happening:
I recovered a backup of the whole site to a version backed-up and then I made a mirror at address http://www.clubfiat500.it/mirror/ (pointing to a different database and siteurl) and after that I upgraded this “mirror” to 0.46.
Surprisingly this one is working. No IoError.
Stunned.

finally it turn out being a permissions’ problem.
Restored the whole web folder permissions through my hosting web interface and the problem had been solved.

deactivate plugin, delete it from ftp, upload old version and after activation go to Overview page and click reset settings, check skin colors settings.

Seems like your theme or some of your plugin automatically add links to words (ex. ‘Gallery’). Try to rename album to something else in shortcode or better disable that plugin.

Check if this is happening on the default skin (Midnight), then uncheck ‘Only for logged in users’ option next to each photo in the column with a lock. Otherwise download and reinstall the skin you use.

I think that problem is in your theme. Try temporary switch to default wordpress theme and check page with gallery. For more help I need temporary access to your WP admin. Send through form on CodEasily.com About page.
For some reason the quality of the thumbnails is absolutely terrible. I’ve tried to adjust the settings and options but no matter what I do the thumbs are horrible.
The quality of the thumbnails degraded after I upgraded the plugin awhile back. But I hadn’t added any new images until today. So I don’t know if it’s the plugin or what. Check out the thumbnails here. http://www.onepointesolutions.com/laboratory-furniture/microscope-tables

I am trying to edit the Information Content font in this Grand Flash Gallery. From what I have found online this can only be done using the tag within each description. I find this hard to believe since your gallery is so wordrpess user friendly. Are their any other alternative solutions?
i am struggling with the same thing. the font is so small on the information screen – if we could just edit they style in an editor, that’d be handy.
I’ve just done this on a new blog I’m setting up http://trurorunningclub.org.uk (galleries/team photos). It was fairly straightforward:
1. go to the gallery, select the image in the checkbox on the left of it
2. click in drop-down ‘actions’ menu above and select ‘meta data – description’
3. Now if you look at your ‘description’ section (right of the photo) you’ll see the html tags, which you can alter as you like!
A bit of a phaff, but at least it works :)

What do you mean you can’t embed iframes? Try set background color transparent on Skins page -> Skin options tab.
The latest version didn’t install correctly and I’m being asked to reset. Will this remove any changes I made e.g. skins? I spent a lot of time (because I’m a novice) trying to make the images look good and am nervous that the time and effort will be for naught if I reset to the default settings. Also, how would resetting solve the problem with upgrading? Thanks!
All skins, images and descriptions will be in save. After reseting settings default skin will be active, so you need reactivate skin you use before
The plug in is running over the dashboard and I can’t see or do anything with it. I have the newest version, but I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong to fix this.

First I had XML problem 1088. I reinstalled the whole gallery. Now it’s saying that it needs flash+javascript.

BTW-whenever I remove the gallery thru FTP ( did it 5 times already) it seems like it keeps my previous galleries – how is it possible? Shouldnt they be romoved once the plugin is removed? Removed-not deactivated.

I love the look of the flash album gallery, however when I attempt to activate the plugin I get an error as follows
Flash Album Gallery : Tables could not created, please check your database settings
I then click an option indicating the I should update now which follows with a message indicating the upgrade was successful. I then end up at the beginning gain with message Flash Album Gallery : Tables could not created, please check your database settings. Has anyone else seen this and do you know how I can fix this problem?

GRAND FlAGallery v0.40 (and above) use a different database structure than in previous versions – this was to support new features. You must update your database in order for this version to work – backup your database first then click here to run the update script.

(1) You do not lose your galleries if you deactivate. Of course, you can also always save your flagallery folder to your hard drive via FTP before trying a new procedure, or, e.g., before upgrading the plugin (you will be able to see all your galleries, thumbs, and images in that folder). I save my flagallery folder via FTP almost daily.
(2) If I understand correctly, you cannot increase the font size for the topmost text that appears when you click the info button, but I use the following workaround:
Do not put any text in the title (top) box; let it remain empty. Instead, set your font size as, e.g., (or whatever size you want) in the lower text box and use that text as your title (and description, if you like). When the user clicks “i”, your text/title will appear in the font you choose, but the uppermost text box (with the smaller font) will remain empty.
Sorry, I meant “set your font size to, e.g., 18 or whatever size you want.”
On the overview page at the far right under ‘News Box’ the skins do not show up, it says loading and then gives me text ‘what’s new at…?’ Why isn’t this loading up? Thanks!

But my authors cannot access the upload options. Also is it possible for any setting to be changed such that one author may not use the gallery of another author?

This is probably *really* simple but I’m having an issue setting up my Gallery with categories.
I had four galleries set up, each with an ID and Name, all filled with photos. When I put this [flagallery gid=9,8,10,11 name="My Galleries"] on the page, nothing happened and the Gallery “did not exist.”

Yet only gid 1 shows up.
Have checked folder permissions, cleared cache…
Currently my work around is:
Multiple flags:
[flagallery gid=3 name="Happy Hollow District Pedestrian Bridge Photos"]
[flagallery gid=2,3 name="Civitan Park Photos"]
But this is not really what I desire… wanted to concatenate the gallaries.

It solved it !!
When the setting that was was removed from .htaccess, it came to be able to display which OS and any browser neatly.
It is possible to use it at ease in this.
I read one line somewhere that the current version should support WPMU but it fails so, at least partially on WPMU 3.x.
- No matter activating local or sitewide, It does correctly add menu item to Site Admin but it does not handle anything in the code with “IS_WPMU”. Therefore, the gallery’s storage path entered in Site Admin menu with blog_id fails and from there on it’s a cascading mess.
- The roles are ignored.
- After activation on main site, sub-blogs activation causes an “upgrade db due to different format after version .40″ error that also uses a pre-WP3 URL (“admin” should be “ms-admin”).
Same thing happens to me. I use WordPress 3.0.1 and FlaGallery v0.50 with only two sites. Main one works OK but sub-blogs cannot use FlaGallery. I will have to ditch it if this is not a simple fix. What a shame…

You asked a long time ago but if it could help you or other people. I had the same pb under Mac OS X with all browsers and I solved it by removing the “” around the name of the gallery. And it still worked under Windows ;)
So the shortcode becomes : [album gid=1 name=Album_name]

I can’t upload pictures using flash based upload function since couple days ago. I have install flash 10 for browsers and it used to work well. So I have no idea about this problem. Would you please help me with this issue? Many thanks!
This is a great plugin. The only trouble I’m having is that the slideshow obscures my rather long drop-down menu, in IE only. Is there a way to adjust the z-index on the insert code?
oh, I did try putting the slideshow tag in a div with a z-index of -5. Also, my navigation divs are set with a z-index of 130, so I’m thinking the answer is no…

I just got the plugin installed and have to say I’m extremely happy with it thus far, except for one minor detail.
How can I tell the plug in to change/not change the size of the image preview. The thumbnails in the navigation area are fine but I’ve posted artwork which doesn’t take to resizing well. The images don’t need to be displayed full size in the preview pane but they do need to be larger in order to avoid a majority of the pixelation.
I’ve tried all the image resizing options and nothing seems to change the preview sizes, so I assume I will have yo edit the plugin code directly but don’t know where to start.
PS- you won’t be able to access the website at this time as the UR is not redirecting yet and I have an under construction page blocking out visitors when the redirects go into place. if you need access let me know in your reply and i’ll set you up an temp admin account.

Great plugin it works perfectly! Can I ask is there a way to get a ‘tool tip’ when people mouse over the “FS” and “SL” buttons. A client was confused as to what the buttons did, and suggested this as a solution.

I’ve downloaded the plug-in, uploaded pictures to it, however I can’t seem to figure out how to put the gallery in my post on on a page. Please, please someone help. Usually using FlAG Gallery it always showed me following message when uploading pictures: “Based on your server memory limit you should not upload larger images then 1280 x 720 pixel”
Well ok, that’s not so bad, but starting yesterday it started saying that I can’t upload images bigger then 800x600px. Well that’s absurd. What’s worse, even when I was trying to upload image with a size of 650×366, it gave me an error.
First I thought that my host is limiting my uploads (i’m using byethost), but they said that they don’t know anything and that I should ask on WP forums. PHP Max Upload Size : 1500K, but the pictures that I uploaded were ~100kb each. Besides it never gave me an error before.
Also I can upload pictures using WP Media uploader, everything is fine.
I also tried using FTP to upload pictures into FlAG Gallery folder directly without using uploader, it worked, but when in the FlAG Gallery I pressed “scan folder for images” it gave the same error.
So the problem is definetly in FlAG Gallery. I like how the Gallery looks so I don’t want to replace it but I also have no idea how to fix this problem.

I am testing and modifying your great plugin on my text segment to use on a site I am building. I’ve already bought the Photogallery PRO which I like a lot. The only thing that bothers me is I can’t find where you change the presets for the label text. I want to have the labels not be bold and I want to control the colour of them, I also want to be able to changed their appearance in general! Which file do I use to make the font modifications? It seems to be bold and mid grey neither of which is what I want!

All was working just fine and now all I get is the hourglass/wait symbol. All of the galleries are right where I left them, intact, along with all of the thumbs. Everything shows up inside the flagallery admin panel like its all supposed to. When I load any page with a gallery however it just waits and waits…. never does load even after many many hours (I tried) Same behavior on other users browsers/computers as well.

I tried that, but it didn’t work. The description just doesn’t appear at all if I try doing it that way.
Is there a way to do it in the skin options? It’s just the links in the descriptions I want to be a different color so you can tell they’re links.
Oh, I see you used two different kinds of ” marks in your example. I tried it again so they were both the same (the second kind). Doing it that way, the description did appear, but the links were not a different color, i.e., not the color I specified. I’m stumped.

I love your Grand Flash plugin! Here’s my problem. I built the above referenced site (which will become http://fritzlandscape.com once I get Grand Flash working)originally at http://fritzlandscape.com/wp (which still exists and works) and when I did the only issue I had was having the web host provide 1GB of storage for me to install, activate, and add photos to Grand Flash.
Now Fritz has a new web host, so I’ve migrated his site with the exception of being able to install, activate, and add photos to Grand Flash. Fritz’s tech guy who set everything up with the new web host informed me that Fritz has 10GB of storage, so I don’t know what the problem is and would appreciate your assistance. When I try downloading, it doesn’t seem to finish installing. (Here’s the message I get: Installing Plugin: GRAND Flash Album Gallery 0.55

Hello again. I was able to install and activate Grand Flash, and then created a gallery. When I uploaded my photos, now am getting the I get the message “Error: Exceed Memory limit.” Each thumbnail in the gallery appears a red x (like graphics when the link is broken) however when I click on the red x, the picture is displayed. On the actual page, the film strip pictures at the bottom appear as boxes with ERROR written in each box, but when you click on any of them the main picture displays.
We increased the PHP Memory limit as you suggested to another user in the php.ini file and I uploaded it to the WordPress folder via FTP. So far these ERROR boxes haven’t changed back to the thumbnails. What else do I need to do?

Plugin work fine with WordPress 3.0.5. Your problem is not in the plugin but in host settings. I need access to your WP admin, so I’ll try to solve your problem.

I have the same problem, but…
In Firefox, it works perfectly.
In Chromium, it gives error 2036.
The XML file does display.
All files and folders have only letters, digits, hyphen and one period.
What else can we do to diagnose?

Your plugin works great on another site I run, so I am guessing it’s something with this server configuration. Any ideas?
it’s can be conflict with theme functions or other plugin. I need access to admin panel to solve your problem. You can try temporary change theme and disable other plugins one by one to check if I was right
hey i think you guys are geniuses. well coded, well designed. very excited to use your wp plugin now and in the future. current gallery has two problems:
1. categories when listed out or in all get cut off…predominantly on the right. is there a fix soon or is there somewhere you can point me to adjust this text padding?
2. id like to be able to list the first category by id and the remainder by all. I know you can’t do that now but just a suggestion for future versions.

Forgive me, but I’m still having trouble figuring out how to re-order my galleries. They are currently sorted by ID (2 – 14) and I want to sort the IDs in the following order: 14, 11, 12, 13, 10, 9, 7, 6, 5, 8, 4, 3, 2. I would really appreciate some more specific instructions on how to sort these.

You can rename your galleries with a counter before name (ex. “1. Gallery name”, “2. Gallery name”, etc.) Then change shortcake to:
[flagallery gid=all name="Gallery" orderby=title order=ASC]
Couple of quick questions:
(1) Is there any limit to the number of galleries (names) that will pop up in the All Categories menu for the Commercial International skin?
I have 19 galleries there now, and the gallery names extend about 2/3 of the way up toward the top of the image screen. I will be adding more galleries to this page. Are the top galleries ever cut from view as the list extends upward?
(2) I have been through several plugin updates. There is an empty “gallery” folder left in my wp-content folder (in addition to the flagallery folder, which, of course, is full). Can I delete the “gallery” folder now?

2. “gallery” folder is probably created by nextgen plugin (you can delete this folder if you don’t use nextgen)

My pictures turned out all pixelated even though they are 72 dpi and show up fine on other pages. Am I doing a setting wrong or something?
I have installed the plug in on a clients site and they love it. They want me to slow the slideshow down though. How do I accomplish this?
Some skins have a Slideshow Delay button under Skin Options.

I encounter a problem when I upgraded to GRAND Flash Album Gallery 0.58pl1.
I would get the following errors when viewing my gallery pictures:
“Error! Please, check shortcode for this album…”
OR
“Error! Please, check shortcode for this album…Example: [album gid=1 name="Album_name"]”
I was able to correct the issue by changing the shortcodes that were working BEFORE the upgrade from FOR EXAMPLE
[flagallery gid=6]
TO
[flagallery gid=6 name=" "]
In summary, I did NOT want to specify a “name” argument, but now (after the upgrade) I must, so I just specified it with a space character. BTW this would NOT work: name=”", it had to be name= ” ”
Lastly, using the shortcode keyword “album” NEVER worked. I had to use “flagallery” as I had been doing BEFORE the upgrade.
I hope others find my comment helpful.
