I’ve created my website using static pages on wordpress, and I’m wondering if there is a way to display your plug-in gallery on the static pages. I can’t find any information on how to do this. Thank you for your help.

  6. icemonkey9 says:

Is there any way for the slideshow to automatically be set to “SL” so that it just plays right away?

  7. Alex says:

Great plugin indeed. Thank you for this. I have one small question: I know you can use html code in the picture description, but I was wondering if it’s possible to use some embed code, like the embed code for a YouTube movie for example.

    Thank you.

    Hi i have a few ?s

I am playing with the gallery on a test site right now. Liking it a lot

Can i change out the FS icon to something Like — (Open or Close Full Screen mode )– text My wife was lost at going back to normal mode.
I would like to make it as easy as can be for every user.

When posted on a blog page Can i set it up to only show one large main load in image first and not load any other images. A preview image i make that will also says something like click on gallery up top to view each gallery.
I would like to cut down the load time for the gallery so it loads very fast.
Right now it is loading to slow so a blog viewer (person) will scroll past it before it has loaded and may never see it??
My wife just did that she went past it as it had not loaded yet and kept going down looking for it and never found it till i had her go back up to the top then it was loaded in.

Thanks for any help with this

Finally, a WP slideshow that works!!!!!! This is great. I’ve tried about 10 other WP slideshows and have failed miserably at making them work. This was so easy!

Just one question…Is there a way to enable the image captions (descriptions) to appear when the image does?

    Thanks!

    Amy

Wow! A slideshow that works, that is beautiful, that is easy to work with… and a fabulous demo video with perfect music!

I love the program! Very easy to use and I am so glad that you developed it. However, when I go to edit a page and click on the new button to insert a new gallery the window comes up with an internal server error. Is there anything that I need to tell me hosting provider to do?
Thank you so much for your help!

  16. Ramona says:

Since I can’t get the video tutorial loaded, can someone explain what the function of the All Categories button is? It only lists the active gallery. Where are categories listed in the backend? Is there any other form of tutorial on this side besides the video? Thanks.

  17. Ken says:

Fantastic plugin seriously. Is there a way to have it load full screen from the start?

  18. Margarida Fernandes says:

Love this pluginm but whenever I want to edit thumbnail it doesn’t work.
I have wordpress 2.9.2 installed. Could it be only this version?

    • Doug says:

The Edit Thumbnail button in versions 0.40+ does not appear if you use Internet Explorer 7. I’m unsure about IE 8. At Sergey’s suggestion I have switched to Firefox for editing the gallery.

      • Arbelzner says:

I have the same issue and I have tried it in chrome, firefox, EX8 . when I go to click on the image to select the Thumbnail it acts like I am only trying to grab the whole image not create a thumb

        • Isaac says:

I’m having the same issue. I’ve tried to create/edit thumbnails, and both IE and Firefox only want to grab the whole image…
Has anyone found a fix for this???

  19. Brian H. says:

Checking out your video now. Who does that song that comes in around 7:50? Sounds like old school hip hop or someone trying to sound that way. Love it.

  20. Robert Deane says:

I did not find instructions in the tutorial on how to change the timing of slide changes. Currently it is moving somewhat too fast for my audience. Also is there a way for them to stop on a given photo?

Lots of good comments on the gallery. Thank you for such an excellent product.

I am unable to set file permissions successfully although I have tried to follow the WordPress ‘Changing File Permissions’ advice that you linked to. I have created “/wp-content/plugins/flagallery-skins/” and “/wp-content/flagallery” but am unable to create galleries in FlAG Gallery. Can you help?

    • Rattus says:

All files should be owned by your user account on your web server, and should be writable by your username. Any file that needs write access from WordPress should be group-owned by the user account used by the webserver. For example, you may have a user account that lets you FTP files back and forth to your server, but your server itself may run using a separate user, in a separate usergroup. A user such as dhapache or nobody.

  24. Heather says:

Like someone asked above: Is there a way to change the FS button text to “Fullscreen”? It’s a little confusing for those not in the know, and it took me a little time to find Open in Fullscreen Mode. I would like to make it as simple as possible for viewers.

I would also like to be able to turn Category title off as it appears very messy as it is set to something like “portglasgow” – with no capitilization or spaces – since that is the name I gave it when setting up the folder. I would like it to appear as “Port Glasgow” but I don’t appear to be able to rename the folder in Manage Gallery. Therefore, I would like the option to turn off the category title.

    • Rattus says:

See commercial skins. To change gallery title go to manage gallery page and in Gallery settings block change title of gallery… click Save Changes

  25. eddyyc says:

Hi…I’ve been adding html in description to link to the post; but it doesnt appear or works..is there a special skin for it to do it?

  27. Justina says:

I would love to get this to work! I am on a mac using firefox, and when I try to upload new skins, it says I need connection information. When I enter it in, it goes to the ‘want more skins’ page and doesn’t show any skins loaded ?!?!? This is driving me crazy!

  28. Marta says:

    Hmm.
I tried using post/pages, reinstalled, but all i get is a black box with red type : Couldn’t load the Main XML file.Error #1088 ”
I see my gallery/images in FTP too, seems like everything is there..

Do u have an idea what would be the problem?

How I can change the “I” letter from capital to small “I”

  38. tim appleton says:

    2 questions.

How do you set a gallery to change photos automatically?

Also I would like to have captions that show for each photo. How is that set up?

    • Doug says:

      (1) Get the Slide-Show skin;

      (2) See the video tutorial and either use the Title Text at the top (it has a fixed font size), or leave that blank and use the Description field and set your own font and color size.

I’m unsure whether any of these skins automatically display the caption, i.e., the viewer still must click to prompt the caption or text description to appear.

  39. arieff says:

Since I can’t get the video tutorial loaded, can someone explain what the function of the All Categories button is? It only lists the active gallery. Where are categories listed in the backend? Is there any other form of tutorial on this side besides the video? Thanks.

    • Doug says:

When the visitor’s cursor is hovered over the All Categories button (at least in the skin I am using; some menus are, e.g., at the top), that button will prompt a menu listing all your separate galleries in any order you set. Every time you create a gallery, it is assigned a number. Those numbers must be entered on the gallery page you actually publish in WP, and indeed can appear there in any order you choose, e.g.,
      16,17,11, 3,6,7 etc.
That is, gallery 16 will be the one that is loaded when the published gallery page itself is loaded, gallery 17 will be the next one on the menu for the viewer to click, etc.
The FAQ page on this site has instructions for entering gallery number on your page and for adjusting their order.

  41. I am using Word Press 3.0.1 and have developed the template with Artisteer.2.5.0.29918 which is made for Word Press 3.0.0 . I have bought several skins and activated 2 different ones which didn’t seem to make a difference. The problem I am having is: The photo gallery works once and when I go to a different page and come back it shows the code instead of the photo gallery.

I have removed it from the website because I don’t want to give my customer a bad feeling.

Any insight into this would be appreciated.

    • Doug says:

I went to your site and had no problem with the gallery. It loads and works on the home page and also after I visit the About page and return to the home page, even multiple times.

    Hi.

I’ve installed FlAGallery, but I am not able to find any skins. There is a default map under the flash-album-gallery/skin/ directory , but I get no skin options to choose from under Admin-settings in WP – it just say’s “No skins to show”. I also tried to install new skins – no error message, but nothing seem to happen.

Any suggestions what the problem is?

Maybe you should edit the post title Video Tutorial: GRAND FlAGallery to more catching for your webpage you write. I enjoyed the the writing yet.

  48. David says:

    Great job on the tutorial……….Thanks.

  49. Julian says:

Hey, thanks a lot for this plugin! Love it!

Is there anyway to use 2 different skins on different pages of the same website?

    • Rattus says:

use FlAGallery button in your post editor to insert shortcode. In popup choose custom settings and choose different skin. If you want to change skin colors you should activate that skin first, change colors, save changes.

    • Doug says:

Another way of thinking of this is to remember that one skin (the activated skin) is your “default skin,” while the others are “available skins” . . . but all the skins can be used anywhere on your site – as Rattus points out – by simply using the custom settings for each gallery.

After you make the color changes to each skin and save those changes, it doesn’t really matter which skin is the activated/default skin, since you can still use them all.

  50. Mark Kay says:

Is there anyway that I could increase the font size for the image information.

Also, I cannot get the gallery description to show??

    Thanks.

  51. Imagineer says:

This looks great in Firefox but I simply cannot work out why it won’t work in ANY other browser. Changed all the server permissions, but nix. Please help!

  52. This video was extremely helpful in getting the gallery setup on one of my client’s sites. Loved the background music mix by the way :)

  53. The flash window is blank, therefore no pictures are displayed. Could it have something to do with IIS7 file permissions as I am running WordPress on Window 7? All my other plugins work fine.

    • Doug says:

I don’t know about the IIS7 permissions issue, but the blank screen can be connected with your Flash player settings and/or version or also with your graphics card capability.

  54. Patti says:

Great video and LOL @ Don’t Worry Be Happy playing in the background. An appropriate song whenever you’re trying to figure out a new plugin :)

  55. Chad says:

The plugin looks great, but is not displaying properly. If you go to http://www.summermountainwoodworks.com/photo-gallery you will see the gray square where it is supposed to be. And it appears to be loading the photos, if you can guess where the full screen button is you can click it and get it in full screen mode. But it will not display the photos except with google chrome. Any advice?

    • Rattus says:

seems, pictures were not recorded in a database. Try reset settings, Scan Folder for new images or reinstall plugin. If nothing helps, send me a temporary access to the WP admin panel via the form on About page.

  56. Jose Siccha says:

    Hi thanks for your tutorial
Please could you insert the sound track to find the songs? are very nice
    thanks and greetings from PERU…

  57. Christina says:

Hi, I cannot edit the thumbnails. WHen I go to Edit Thumbnail, the window pops up but I cannot select any part of the image. When I click and drag the images moves with my cursor. I tried in Chrome and Safari.

    • Doug says:

      Christina,

Create a test gallery, then try creating new thumbnails on that gallery’s main page (using the action function at top). Sometimes the gallery thumbnail size can get changed, and setting it back to 100% x 115 (or 100; I think those are the dimensions) will solve the problem.

  61. Andrew West says:

For all those who want to know how to do make this use captions as well as pictures while fading in and out.

The original div tag has the slideshow class. For each item that you want to rotate simply insert ‘that’ into another div, inside of your slideshow fading div.

    IE

    caption

In the case where you are using mysql calls for each url (or picture in this case) you would simple call the sql, query it, and mysql_fetch_assoc. While inside of te loop you would make the new div tag.

This is simple, but if you need help email me at burstroo@gmail.com

Is there a way to edit the links on the default skin for the fullscreen button (FS) and slideshow button (SL) links? They are very small and hard to find for the casual Internet user. Even if they were spelled out it would be easier to see. Worst case, if you can point me to the code, I can probably figure it out.

    is this possible?
For example, if I have 20 images inside the gallery, then for each image I want there to be a different audio ‘description’ that plays whenever each image is clicked.
Plz note: I AM NOT REFERRING TO BACKGROUND AUDIO/MUSIC.
If I have 20 different images, I am looking to have 20 different (descriptive) audio voiceovers.
    Is this doable?

i have done every thing but when i am trying yo display on my page i am getting this error “Couldn’t load the Color XML file.Error #1088″

    kindly help me out

    thanks.

    • Rattus says:

try open color xml file (colors.php in skins folder) in your browser and see what’s wrong. Free hosting can add some scripts to the and of php file, so xml will be invalid

  73. Doug says:

    (1) Can the demo skins be deleted from the skins folder?

    (2) If I understand correctly, the Midnight and Midnight International skins must never be deleted for the plugin to work (and update) properly. Is that correct?

    Thanks.

    • Rattus says:

      (1) Yes
      (2) Midnight (default), Music Default and in the feature Video Default skins must never be deleted for the plugin work properly

      • Doug says:

Thanks – also for the info about the Music Default and Video Default skins, which I did not know. Very helpful.

  74. Hi! Can i also crop pictures before they’re being uploaded? or is there an image editor?

  75. Doug says:

If I understand your question, you actually do need to crop and size pictures before uploading them, though you will have the option to edit the thumbnail view after an image is uploaded and determine the Default flash size under options.

    • Doug says:

p.s. and resize images under Image Settings; that’s a lot, but not quite a full editor, unless I have misunderstood one of the functions.

  76. Steve says:

I know you can get the short code for the gallery when you initially make the gallery. But how do you get the short AFTER the gallery is created (and you didn’t copy it when you first made the gallery)?? I’ve searched everywhere and cannot find the short code anywhere.

    • Doug says:

      July 23, 2011 at 11:04 pm

If I understand your question correctly, you can reconstruct the gallery short code according to the standard short-code form, which you can see at 1:00 in the video tutorial at the top of this page.

You can also create a dummy page and choose (insert) that gallery from the FLAGallery dropdown menu; that inserts the short code into the page.

But again, I may have misunderstood your question.

  77. Nelly says:

I cannot create new album. I want to put several albums on the page, and within each album several categories.
Categories work perfectly, uploaded images etc. But how to create album?

    • Rattus says:

create album -> drag & drop categories in it in order you want -> click save button
go to edit post and insert shortcode like: [flagallery album=1 name=Album]
use FlAGallery button for easy generate shortcode

  78. Mike says:

I had the gallery on a page working but now I get this error “Error! Please, check shortcode for this album…”.

    • Rattus says:

I need a link to the gallery page

    • Doug says:

Make sure you have a clean shortcode on the page, esp. if you may have used an earlier version of the plugin to create that page or ever edited the shortcode. Call up the page in the edit screen and try having the FLAGallery button reinsert the shortcode anew.

  79. Zi says:

I am using the gallery and it works on all browsers I need apart from IE7 where the loading icon just keeps on screen. I tried resetting the settings but it dind’t work. Do you have any advice?

  80. Ben says:

The gallery works great when I use the shortcode in a post. However, when I put the shortcode on a page, it displays the shortcode instead of the gallery. How do I display a gallery on a page with text above it and below it?

  81. Far from being a ‘Rattus norvegicus’, sir, you are a STAR! :D

Our bunch of volunteers, mostly between 50 and 75, is trying to restore our beautiful local green spaces, clearing rubbish and cutting back weeds.

Being in poor health, I volunteered to become webmistress, but until I found your plugin, I battled with quirky, unstable Flash Gallery plugins.

Now I can do justice to the photography of our members and show our neighbours what we are trying to achieve… I have just put up a few trial photos, but there will be many, many more, thanks to you!

THANK YOU, YOU’RE A HERO!!!! xxx

  82. Nandi says:

Hi, great tutorial! Luv the music.

Can clickable html be used in all the skins or just specific ones? (Our clients need to be able to click on an image and go to a specific page.)

    Thanks.

  83. Ben says:

I followed all the steps and nothing is happening.
I have a gallery with images, I add the short code and nothing happens on my homepage?

  84. Jessica says:

My images keep looking grainy and out of focus in the 3D part, but then look great once you click on them. What’s up with this?

  85. Gerry says:

I’m currently using your plugin & it looks great but was wondering is there anyway you can insert shortcode that points to a specific photo within a gallery?

    • Rattus says:

Some galleries have Deep Links integrated. So you can open page with gallery -> click image you want in the gallery -> url address should change with # and numbers at the end -> copy this url -> insert it where you want to point to specific image.

  86. Doug says:

I may have missed some instructions along the way, but in WP 3.3 it seems the FlAGallery shortcode-button is no longer accessible in the page editor; in any event, it no longer appears in my editor. Can you help? How is one now to enter the shortcode?

    • Rattus says:

In the plugin version 1.63 I’ve fixed FlAGallery button in HTML Editor and also add link to Upload / Insert section.

Thanks for returning the button to the HTML-editor, though I confess I have in the meantime I have transformed all my galleries into the new Grand Pages … the latter are a very nice addition.

Thanks also (and especially) for adding the link to the Upload/Insert section, which is also a very helpful addition I have long wanted.

This plugin is not working in Safari. What do I need to do in the code to fix this?
Need this info ASAP for 2 clients. Thanks!

    hi,

i really love the plugin and specifically the default skin fits all of my needs. however, is there an option to automatically “turn on” the title/descriptions while still keeping the default skin. clicking on the small I isn’t intuitive enough for people.

    thx…

Tried to upload a new picture. it says picture successfully added. No thumbnail gets created. And this message appears: ID 7: A failure occurred. I have already tried resetting the plugin settings.
