    Hi, I see that there is a setting in Media – auto-smush on upload, but will files being uploaded in the gmedia gallery’s libraries be optimised with this tool? If not, do you recommend another image optimiser? Is there a video optimiser?

    I don’t think WP Smush works with Gmedia. Gmedia Gallery uses separate from WordPress Media Library folders and DB Tables.
    Try EWWW Image Optimizer plugin. There is option to automatically scan folders (which you set manually) and optimize images in them.
