Single pictures using the same interface

Currently I can easily select a GMedia image to insert into a post which is great. However, would it be possible to display it in the same manner as a gallery pic when clicked? Maybe have a default gallery style for individual images? And possibly using shortcodes? Currently it just opens a direct link to the image so I’m using a lightbox plugin to make the interface nicer.
