Images are dark in gallery

the gallery is working great, however the pictures are pretty dark compared to the actual images. I looked at the media files that I uploaded and they look fine. It’s only when it’s in the gallery that is it dark. Check it out here:

The reason could be if images are PNG or if picture resolution is more than 72 DPI (dots per inch).
